Application Process

Background

The Senior Associates work in concert year-round to find positions for outstanding international school teaching, intern and administrative applicants. Most international schools do their hiring all at once in order to avoid a never-ending, expensive and time-consuming task. Thus, school directors depend upon Search Associates to carefully screen a select group of applicants for attendance at one of our ten annual Recruitment Fairs. These geographically convenient assemblies allow candidates and recruiters to meet and determine whether there is mutual interest and a good "fit" between the school and candidate. It is an exciting and exhilarating experience, made more so because we keep the fairs small, the candidate/recruiter ratio very low and we provide maximum support for candidates during and after the Fairs. The Recruitment Fairs are generally held between December and April of each year. Search Associates also holds a northern hemisphere fair in Europe and in the summer in Washington, D.C. to assist schools with late openings. Attendance at any Recruitment Fair is BY INVITATION ONLY.

Not all candidates obtain positions by going to a Fair. Schools often find that they need teachers at unexpected times during the current school year. Search Associates screens the candidates for their consideration and the schools arrange telephone or personal interviews.

Step by Step

  • Most candidate will now proceed to the next page and complete the Search Associates Screening Questions. (See directions at bottom of page) You will receive further instructions based upon your answers.
  • If you are told to proceed you will then be asked to choose an Associate. You may select an Associate based upon the Recruitment Fair you wish to attend or according to the Associate closest to your location. When you click on an associate's name you will see his or her professional biography and the various ways to contact him or her directly.
  • Once you have chosen an Associate you will move to the on-line application form. Please fill it out completely. (Intern candidates please note that there will be some items which do not apply.)
  • You will then be asked to print out Evaluation forms. These must be distributed to your chosen writers of references, one form to be completed by each reference-writer and returned BY THAT PERSON, not by you, by airmail to the Associate you have chosen.
  • You will then be asked to e-mail the Associate you have chosen to inform them that you have submitted an application.
  • Search Associates will review your completed application materials and, if we believe you have a reasonable chance of being placed, we will invite you to begin a full placement file with us.
