Search Associates is pleased to welcome Dr. Robert Imholt to our team of Senior Associates. Bob comes directly to us from SUNY Buffalo State where he has spent the last two years as the Director of the International Program for Educators, which offers Masters courses and professional development to 1,800 graduate students, teachers and administrators in international schools around the world.
Bob’s position as a Senior Associate is merely a continuation of a fascinating and varied career in service. Thirteen years of military service, from 1975 to 1988, culminated with Bob working as Training Officer for the 1st Battalion, 303rd Armor in Yakima, Washington, where he was responsible for developing and implementing training plans for 600 soldiers. From 1988 to 1996, Bob served as Co-Founder of the Guadalupe House of Hospitality and Executive Director of the Hospitality Kitchen, respectively, providing housing and food to many homeless and low-income people in the Washington area. Around the same time, he earned a Bachelor of Arts (1994) and then a Master’s in Teaching from Evergreen State College (1996.) Soon after, Bob took his leap overseas for 19 years. During this time, he earned his PhD, K-12 Educational Leadership from Touro University International in 2009.
In total, Bob has over two decades of experience working in international education. During his time overseas, he worked in six international schools in six different countries around the globe, including Qatar, Japan, Venezuela, Paraguay, Colombia, and finally the Ivory Coast. Bob has held various teaching and leadership positions, including teacher, activities director, vice-principal, K-12 principal, middle school principal, deputy director, and director/head of school. He has been Graduate Program Coordinator for both the American School of Asuncion (2009-2011) and the Colegio Nueva Granada (2011-2014). A member of multiple AdvancED Visiting Accreditation Teams, Dr. Imholt has also facilitated the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program Authorization Process as Director of his school in Abidjan and helped usher in the IB’s PYP, MYP and Diploma Programs into his school in Hiroshima.
At Search Associates, Bob will be taking on candidates from Senior Associate Michael Williams. He will responsible for the West Coast regions, which includes the states of Washington, Oregon, California and Nevada. His wife Jennifer, also an experienced international school administrator and educator of over 24 years, will assist Bob in his office. Additionally, Bob is excited to take on the role as the new Fair Organizer for the San Francisco Fair, a February recruiting event. He had the pleasure of joining Michael this year to help run the fair and assist candidates. We are excited to welcome both Bob and Jennifer to the Search family, and the tremendous knowledge they bring to assist our schools and candidates. As Bob recently noted, having the opportunity to go home to Washington and work with Search Associates to match international schools with highly skilled educators is a dream job for him and Jen. They can hardly wait to get started!
